In case you missed me crying like a little baby on the internet last week, let me paint a slightly embarrassing but very real picture for you: Last week I was having a lot of issues with my MailChimp account and continued to have thousands upon thousands of spam email addresses signing up. I would attempt to delete them myself but it kept happening. I wasn’t hearing back from MailChimp support so then I tried to login to my account to try to fix it myself again. And that’s when I noticed…all of my many thousands of *actual real human people* subscribers were gone. Deleted. The entire list that I had spent years building… down to 0. My account had been hacked. And it’s not like me to feel comfortable showing my face bawling on the internet but I got on IG stories and shared what happened. I was really lucky so many of you were so supportive. I felt compelled to share because it was a real struggle and I had been sharing the earlier parts of the week and the drama with you.
So if you’re wondering why you didn’t receive a newsletter this week, that is why.
Fast forward to now: I am still working with MailChimp trying to recover any of the email addresses that we can but I’m not sure it will be possible, and even if it is, MailChimp says that the 4,000+ fake subscribers will still be on the list for me to deal with. They can’t remove them for me. CooooOOOOoooool. So I’m not sure. I might just start from scratch. So many of you have already subscribed again and for that I am SO GRATEFUL.
