If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen an array of beautiful pictures from my long weekend getaway with Craig at Lakeview at Fontana. With wedding planning in full swing and work being crazy for both of us as usual, we really needed a few extra days away in a super relaxed setting.
Lakeview at Fontana is located in Bryson City, North Carolina, just about an hour west of Asheville. From Charlotte, it was just a little over a 3 hour drive to feel like we were completely in another world. The architecture makes you feel like you are on a hillside in Tuscany and the lush, beautiful forests surrounding you feels like you are in Costa Rica.
Just look at this place!! It is gorgeous. Pictures cannot do it justice.
And pictures really can’t do this view justice. But I will try!
The lobby area has cute little gifts you can take home with you. PS- Not pictured here is their apparel… I got a t-shirt to take home, it says “RELAX” on the front and it’s the softest thing ever. New favorite shirt of all time.
When we arrived on Sunday, we checked into our retreat. The resort has a variety of room options, and we were in a casual comfort suite with a king size bed, full kitchen, and sitting room. It also has it’s own front porch 🙂
It was right about 4:30pm when we arrived so we got there just in time to freshen up and head to the complimentary cocktail hour! Lakeview at Fontana has this every single evening from 5-6pm and the spread is amazing. The cafe is open air and there are tables out front of the cafe where you can enjoy your appetizers or you can go sit on the porch overlooking Fontana lake. There are no bad seats in the house!
It is so quiet here. It really is the best place to getaway from it all. I am so happy to have been able to spend this time away with my fiancé!

For dinner the first night we drove 5 minutes down the road to the Great Smoky Mountains Winery.
After dinner we went around the corner to the Nantahala Brewing Company.
There are so many beers there and so many award winning ones at that!! Craig loves craft beer so it was a must-visit for sure.
We got back that night to catch this sunset. Speechless!
In addition to the complimentary cocktail hour every day, the breakfast is also free for guests. Pastries, breads, spreads, muffins, yogurt, granola, fruit, french press coffee, and orange juice! So yummy!
French press coffee is so good, y’all.

I already follow them on all three sites!! have visited twice (once by myself and once with my daughter) is my most FAVORITE place within driving distance! I want to try out the soaking tub!
Personal friends of mine…this place has a spiritual vibe…been coming for the last 5yrs… I can actually feel my body dropping as I pull into the driveway… it’s amazing place… An amazing amazing place!

Following on Facebook – just added Instagram! Question – what are the roads like to L@F – curvy and steep or easy to navigate?
Hi Jane! At least the roads we took there from Charlotte were easy to navigate and mostly like normal highways the whole time! There is a more scenic, out of the way route through the blue ridge parkway if you want to do the mountain curvy road with views, but Lakeview has very user friendly directions on their website from the location you may be coming from that will help you avoid curvy roads if that is your goal 🙂 Hope that helps!!
