Baby Girl’s Name Reveal

So originally, our plan with baby girl’s name was to keep it a secret.  We wanted to wait until she was born to share the name and honestly I’m not really even sure when or why we decided it, we just kinda did.  I can’t say either of us felt super strongly about keeping it a secret and I knew deep down if enough people kept pressing me, I’d probably give in.  I think the only reason I was nervous to share was to get people’s opinions when I don’t want them that would make us not feel good about her name anymore.  For some reason random people feel the need to give you their two cents and for some reason it’s frowned upon to tell them you don’t care what they think 😉 . But really, Craig and I loved her name and knew that no matter what anyone said, ultimately it only mattered that we loved it.

For a quick backstory, I always had a couple names I loved but for some reason, those names didn’t feel “right” for this baby. So I kept looking around trying to find something else, and then one day I saw it.  INSTANTLY I just felt like this was her name and it felt SO right.  I asked Craig what he thought and he really liked it, so we kinda kept looking around but then nothing ever came close to it, so we decided on it.

I started feeling bad that it seemed like people really wanted to know her name, and I felt like I was almost torturing people not telling them and letting them be a part of the excitement.  I never wanted to make keeping her name a secret a big deal, so a couple of weeks ago we told our parents her name.  We were really glad to get such great feedback from them and they all loved the name!! WHAT A RELIEF!  Naming a kid is hard, y’all.

I have a baby shower tomorrow, and so I thought just in time to celebrate her, we would announce her name to the world.

So without further ado, we decided to name her Emma Benson Carter and we can’t wait to meet her in a few months!!

As it turns out, Emma is actually her great, great, great, great, great grandmother’s and greatx6 grandmother’s name on Craig’s side (I think I got that right?! lol).  Neither of us had any idea that Emma was actually a family name, but there ya go!!  And her middle name, Benson, is actually my brother’s name (He goes by Ben), it was my mom’s middle name before she was married, and it was also her great, great grandmother’s middle name.  So lots of family influence in the name, both intentional and unintentional 🙂
