<p>Spring is here and so is the Besst Workouts 2023 Spring Fitness Challenge!</p>
<p>This 4-week workout program is going to improve your strength endurance, build lean muscle, &amp; overall boost your fitness level. This challenge is going to be a little different than previous challenges, in the way that we are going to have set progressive overload exercises each week.</p>
<p>What is progressive overload? In short, it&#8217;s progressively &amp; systemically overloading the muscles to elicit adaptation &amp; change. In other words, it&#8217;s how you get stronger, build muscle, &amp; change your body composition. if you&#8217;ve been working out with me already, you&#8217;ve been doing it possibly without knowing it. My workouts typically have progressive overload through volume, meaning the amount of reps you do.  That&#8217;s because I want my workouts to be as at-home friendly as possible, and having a wide variety of weights available at home isn&#8217;t the reality for everyone. But I&#8217;m going to ask you to start to GROW by adding another weight range to your at-home collection. Even if it&#8217;s just one more set.</p>
<p>If that&#8217;s not feasible for you, don&#8217;t worry! You can still progressively overload through repetitions using what you already have.</p>
<p>So, for this challenge, I am going to have you work on progressive overload through both volume (reps) and/or intensity (weight). Unlike in the past, this time I want you to TRACK what you do in week one (to establish your baseline) and then in subsequent weeks in the challenge, you are going to progressively overload either by upping the weight you lift OR upping the amount of reps you do if you can.</p>
<p>To track, you can either do it in the app (instructions in the Spring Fitness Handbook) or I have created a <a href="https://www.bessharringtoncarter.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/Besst-Workouts-Spring-Challenge-Progress-Chart.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">PDF download here</a> if you prefer to print it out and write.</p>
<p>I will have more detailed instructions in your Spring Fitness Handbook (available in the app under &#8220;Groups&#8221; &#8211;&gt; Besst Weekly Workouts &#8211;&gt; &#8220;Resources&#8221; or sent to your email!)</p>
<p>When I asked if you all wanted to focus on legs or abs during this challenge, it was a divided response but legs won out. So while the workouts will still work your entire body each week, they are slightly leg-heavier in the moves you&#8217;ll be doing. But I didn&#8217;t want to leave the people who wanted abs hanging, so we are doing both! I will be adding an abs workout to your cardio days. This is for 4 weeks, you can do it!! Also remember, cardio days are choose-your-own. So if you want to go for a long walk, run, spin, whatever it is, that works for me!! Move in a way that you enjoy.</p>

<p>Y&#8217;all know I love working out regardless of the time of year, but I particularly enjoy it during the holidays. It&#8217;s such a time of go, go, go with the holiday rush, events, &amp; activities, and I really love the grounding nature of having that ME time. 30, sometimes 45 minutes (if I&#8217;m doing cardio) a day is really all I need to clear my head and refresh my mind.  It keeps me feeling my BESST <img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/16.0.1/72x72/1f609.png" alt="😉" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> throughout the holiday season.  So, I figured why not do a little Holiday Workout Challenge?!  It will last from November 21 to December 23, giving us a few weeks after Christmas to enjoy the downtime of the last couple weeks of the year&#8230;workouts will still be in your app during this time of course! We will do a de-load week to rest &amp; rejuvenate our bodies before ramping back up for our New Year Workout Challenge.</p>
<p>I&#8217;m also adding tons of new moves to the app that are a mix of strength, pilates, and HIIT&#8230;I know y&#8217;all will love them.</p>

<p>I&#8217;ve had the <a href="https://www.besstworkouts.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Besst Workouts App</a> out there for going on two years now, and it was born out of me learning (after years and years of trying different things) that being consistent with this style of workout was not only easier for me to do since they are only 30 minutes, 3x a week&#8230;but also that they are effective. They work. You will get stronger, fitter, faster by following the schedule.  They are designed with intention so you continue to feel challenged &amp; progress.  I&#8217;m going to share a little more about why the Besst Workouts App should be a part of your routine.</p>
<p>So as a trainer, putting them in an app that I could share with you every single week was basically a dream come true. I wish I could train all of my members in person but of course that wouldn&#8217;t be possible!  So through the app, I am able to be your personal trainer and share these workouts that I know you&#8217;ll love not just because they are great workouts that work, but also because they give you your time back.  They are only 30 minutes long.  So many people think that they need to be working out for an hour or more a day to see results.  There is absolutely such a thing as too much, and that goes for exercise.</p>
<p>Your body views exercise as a stressor.  It&#8217;s a &#8220;good&#8221; stressor, in that it has a lot of amazing benefits, but placing the body under stress is how it changes &amp; adapts.  Having too much of a good thing in this case would leads to burn out, plateaus, lethargy, even weight gain.  By keeping my workouts short, sweet, &amp; to the point (okay, &amp; sweaty!) I can get you back to your day and you&#8217;ll have a boost of energy from the workout, not feel like you have nothing left for your day.  Because my whole thing that I want you to know is this:  working out and caring about your health and fitness can and should be a part of your life, but it should not dominate your life.  It should help accentuate your lifestyle, it should make things more enjoyable&#8230;for example, I can go out on spontaneous long hikes with my husband because I am conditioned to do so.  And I can do it without feeling like I&#8217;m going to pass out! Giving your body these workouts and training for a lifetime of fitness will make absolutely everything you do easier &amp; more enjoyable.</p>
<p>Also, maybe you&#8217;re totally somebody who would be fine working out and hour + a day, if you had the time!  I mean who has that kind of time?  I know especially once I had Emma, the short workouts were such a blessing, but I did them even back when I had a 9-5 corporate job.  I was even able to do them at lunch a lot of times because they were short enough that I could get in, get out, and get back to work.</p>
<p>So I think what I want you to learn by using the Besst Workouts App is that you can do 30 minute workouts, from your house with minimal equipment, and see results.  But I also want you to learn how you can balance incorporating them in your life and still have time for other things you care about.  You can find 30 minutes to give to yourself.</p>
<p>One thing I hear a lot from people is that once they start following the schedule that is laid out for them (which makes it easy so you don&#8217;t have to think about what to do each day) is that it&#8217;s like a snowball effect&#8230;they work hard on their workouts and stay dedicated to them and so they care more about incorporating other healthy habits like drinking more water, eating more vegetables, getting more steps in, prioritizing healthy sleep habits, etc.  Eventually all of these things become second nature to you.</p>
<p>The Besst Workouts App should be a part of your routine because it&#8217;s going to give you time back, while getting results, while you work with a personal trainer&#8230;me <img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/16.0.1/72x72/1f642.png" alt="🙂" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> My members in the app can message me anytime 1-1 if they need help.  Here is a quick list of everything you get with a Besst Workouts Membership:</p>

<p>The <strong>Besst Workouts January 2022 Workout Challenge</strong> kicks off on Monday, January 3rd and will be four weeks of sweaty, fun, efficient, &amp; effective workouts.  Both the High Intensity and Low Intensity programs will be included in the challenge.  If you&#8217;re already an app subscriber, you don&#8217;t have to do anything to join&#8230;the workouts will show up in your calendar as usual!  If you aren&#8217;t a subscriber yet but you want to join, you have two options for doing so:</p>

<li>You can purchase the standalone program and just get the 4 weeks of the January 2022 challenge, without the ongoing membership.  If you choose this option, it is a lifetime purchase so you can always go back and do the workouts from the challenge anytime. (PLEASE NOTE: PURCHASES FOR THIS STANDALONE PROGRAM HAVE ENDED)</li>

<p>My workouts are designed with <strong>intention</strong>, not just for the January Challenge, but to continue on for months and years on end…making it a lifestyle.  You can do the January Challenge as a one-time thing, but once you see how these workouts build on each other so you’re always improving, you can of course decide to continue on the app after the challenge is over.</p>

<p>The high intensity and low intensity programs are both included in the January Challenge, both for app subscribers and the standalone program.  You can choose to follow one program exclusively, or you can mix &amp; match between the two to best suit what you&#8217;re feeling up to that day!</p>
<p>I know a lot of New Year&#8217;s workout programs roll out in January, promising weight loss, incredible physical transformations, etc. and while those things may happen with consistency &amp; commitment, what I hope you will focus on during the challenge is loving and appreciating your body.  Not trying to burn thousands of calories and beating yourself down to lose a pound or two, but instead focusing on enjoying the challenge itself, doing hard workouts and feeling PROUD of yourself, getting stronger and stronger each day. <strong> I hope 2022 is the year</strong> you come to love and appreciate your body exactly where it is, and for everything it does for you&#8230;not how it looks compared to some societal expectation.  Who you are on the inside is the most important thing, and I hope you&#8217;re able to do these workouts and feel a sense of accomplishment after each one, knowing you&#8217;re taking care of yourself so that the best possible you can show up to give back to the world.</p>
<p>You showing up and participating in the January Challenge will create an <strong>undeniable momentum</strong> for you to carry into 2022 with your head high and your shoulders back.  Something I take pride in is that many of my clients express that these workouts have made them happier and more confident in themselves.  I experienced this first hand as well.  Showing up for yourself each day will build your strength both inside and out.  The changes will be both visible and invisible.</p>

<p>I am super excited to officially announce that the Besst Workouts App has a new program: <strong>The Low Impact Program! </strong> This is something that y&#8217;all have been asking for so I&#8217;m glad it&#8217;s finally here!</p>
<p>The first workout of the Low Impact Program will be Monday, September 20th, 2021.</p>
<h3>The Low Impact Program: What&#8217;s Included</h3>
<p>The Low Impact Program is going to be a more low-to-moderate program in terms of intensity, but it will be &#8220;low impact&#8221;, meaning very little-to-no jumping or any moves that pound on those joints.  There will be two &#8220;3&#215;3&#8221; circuit workouts per week, two low intensity cardio workouts per week, one optional yoga workout per week, and 2-3 rest days per week.</p>
<p>As always, the workouts come with video demonstrations, and the yoga workout is a follow-along style video.</p>
<h3>How to Get the Program</h3>
<p>To get the Besst Workouts Low Impact Program, you simply need to be a member of the Besst Workouts Weekly Workout subscription!  If you&#8217;re already a member, the program will automatically show up in your calendar!  With your membership, you will get the new Low Impact Program as well as the original High Intensity program.  You can follow one program solely, or you can feel free to mix &amp; match the workouts from both programs to customize your week!</p>

					<description><![CDATA[<p>Warmer weather is around the corner I CAN FEEL IT y'all.  It's the perfect time for a little 4 week challenge to prep for shorts &#038; sundress season!  I plan on doing a longer challenge closer to Summer, but this 4 week challenge during the month of April will set us up nicely heading into that.  The Besst Workouts Spring Challenge will start on Monday, April 5th and be 4 weeks long, ending on Saturday, May 1st. </p>

<p>Warmer weather is around the corner I CAN FEEL IT y&#8217;all.  It&#8217;s the perfect time for a little 4 week challenge to prep for shorts &amp; sundress season!  I plan on doing a longer challenge closer to Summer, but this 4 week challenge during the month of April will set us up nicely heading into that.  The <strong>Besst Workouts Spring Challenge</strong> will start on Monday, April 5th and be 4 weeks long, ending on Saturday, May 1st.</p>
<h3>Besst Workouts Spring Challenge Info</h3>
<p>To sign up for the challenge, you simply need to be a member of the Besst Workouts app! If you only want to join for the challenge, that&#8217;s fine!  You would just want to sign up for the monthly subscription and then cancel before the next billing cycle.  You will still have access to the month you pay for!  You can sign up anytime if you want to start early to get a feel for the workouts and a couple weeks head start.  <a href="https://www.besstworkouts.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">CLICK HERE TO JOIN.</a></p>
<p>I&#8217;m also planning on having some LIVE workouts throughout the challenge so we can all workout together!!  Stay tuned for that, more info to come.</p>
<p><span class="JsGRdQ">he Spring Challenge is going to be 4 weeks of challenging, but doable, workouts &amp; nutrition.</span> <span class="JsGRdQ">We are all going to be sweating it out together and fueling our bodies properly so we are going to not only be stronger &amp; fitter at the end of the 4 weeks but we are going to <strong>FEEL</strong> amazing and confident from sticking with these workouts, which is the most important!</span></p>
<p class="_04xlpA direction-ltr align-center para-style-body"><span class="JsGRdQ">The Spring Challenge is a little different from the monthly subscription in that we are going to have some additional strength training and cardio challenges embedded throughout the month to push us a little more.</span> <span class="JsGRdQ">This is not how I would recommend working out all the time as it&#8217;s not something maintainable for long periods and can lead to burn out, but for 4 weeks we are going to give ourselves a little extra push.</span></p>
<p class="_04xlpA direction-ltr align-center para-style-body"><span class="JsGRdQ">Regarding nutrition, we are going to focus on properly fueling ourselves for these workouts and for results.</span> <span class="JsGRdQ">It will not involve counting or tracking anything&#8230;I want to encourage you to eat intuitively but ALSO with that, knowing what nutrition will best serve your body and work cohesively with all the hard work you are putting into your workouts!</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: -apple-system, BlinkMacSystemFont, 'Segoe UI', Roboto, Oxygen-Sans, Ubuntu, Cantarell, 'Helvetica Neue', sans-serif;">The manual that comes with the Spring Challenge will outline all of this!</span></p>
<p>By joining the Besst Workouts App, you will gain access to the private Facebook group for members-only members only to serve as a place we can all come together to chat, lift one another up, share tips &amp; tricks, recipes, and overall just hold one another accountable!! Please feel free to post questions or discussion topics, to check in from your workout, or to simply share some motivation or inspiration to the group.  The <strong>TEAM</strong> aspect of this app is one I really want to leverage for us all.  Growing up an athlete I know how much that team mentality &amp; sense of belonging can really contribute to your success.</p>

<p><strong>What equipment do I need? </strong> A lot of the exercises require no equipment at all, but having a pair of dumbbells between 5-8lbs to start would be great!  If you don&#8217;t have those, you can always replace with water bottles or soup cans.  A mat is also helpful.</p>
<p><strong>If I did the 4-Week Challenge, will I still have access to those workouts?</strong>  Yes! The 4-Week Challenge workouts will be available for as long as you remain subscribed to the app.  You will be able to locate them in your On-Demand workout library.</p>
<p><strong>If I did the 4-Week Challenge, do I have to re-subscribe or will it automatically carry over? </strong> The 4-Week Challenge was a one-time program &amp; payment, so to continue having access to the workouts you will need to choose a subscription plan (details below).  But once you choose a subscription, your membership will automatically recur every pay period (depends if you choose monthly or annual) until you cancel.</p>
<p><strong>SUBSCRIPTION DETAILS</strong></p>
<p>There are two different subscription memberships you can choose from so you can find which best suits you and your budget.  The options are monthly or annual.</p>
<p>The monthly subscription is $19.99 per month, or you can get the most savings by subscribing to the annual plan at $179.99, which is $60 in savings over the monthly plan.</p>
<p>You will have access to all of the previous weekly workouts and new workouts for as long as you remain subscribed.  Access to the original 4-Week Challenge workouts is included in your subscription.</p>

<p>Alright y&#8217;all here are the details for the upcoming 2-week workout challenge!! We are calling it the &#8220;Besst&#8221; workout challenge, a fun play on my name, if you don&#8217;t get it <img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/16.0.1/72x72/1f609.png" alt="😉" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> and I&#8217;m excited to do this with you!  It&#8217;s nothing to complicated but I do think two weeks is a great amount of time to try something new and build a new habit.</p>
<p>Below are the two schedules for the week so you know what to expect.  Go ahead and schedule these into your day!  The circuit workouts on M-W-F are designed to be about 30 minutes long but this may vary just depending on your fitness level and how many times you complete each circuit.  I am going to be sharing the full workouts on my Instagram @<a href="https://instagram.com/besshcarter" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">besshcarter</a> with demonstrations of each move, so be sure to check there!</p>
<p>I&#8217;m also going to be giving away prizes to people that actively are taking part in the challenge and participating/engaging with me along the way so be sure to like/comment/post/share! I&#8217;ll also give prompts on the workout posts that you can answer and be sure to tag friends that might want to join in too.  The more the merrier!</p>
<p>We are starting on Monday, July 13th!  All you need for these workouts is a mat if you have one and a pair of dumbbells.  For the cardio workouts, these are &#8220;your choice&#8221; so you can do anything that is a cardiovascular-based workout.  I like to run on my cardio days and will usually do about 3-4 miles, but sometimes I like to do long walks instead!  On Saturdays it&#8217;s not uncommon that we hike, so that&#8217;s another idea.  I usually do a little longer on Saturdays just because time permits more than during the week.  Whatever you choose, aim to do about 30 minutes!</p>
