I’m just going to jump right into it. Do you see that before & after? That is one application of the No. 36 Supernatural Tanning Mousse.  It was very easy to apply (highly recommend also getting the mitt for the best application) & the color is perfect.  Most sunless tanners seem to give a more orange color and this color actually seems really close to my natural tan.  The Supernatural Tanning Mousse is easily the best sunless tanner out there.

Another great thing about it was that it dried in 5 minutes max.  You can put your clothes on after it dries and go about your day.  You want to leave it on for about 8 hours before taking a shower so avoid water until then.  You can definitely put it on at night and sleep in it – don’t worry about it transferring color to your sheets. I have white sheets and none transferred.  For sure you want to exfoliate before use, I use this product in the shower, and then simply apply limb by limb in large circular motions.  It lasts for about 3-4 days and gradually and naturally fades with no splotchiness.

Also, everything smells amazing.  I also highly HIGHLY recommend the face drops to match your face to your newly tanned bod. I use 3-4 drops and mix it in with my facial moisturizer and use every other day.  Maintain your tan by using this body cream (the best body lotion I’ve ever used hands down).

Lastly, every product is non-toxic, which is huge for me and I love that these are products that work well and are safe to use. So, yes, this entire post has been basically a love note to Lux Unfiltered products, but they do everything they promise and I think I’ll be a fan for life.  I think you’ll enjoy them too.  Let me know if you give them a try & what your favorite product is!

It has been a while since I’ve shared an update on the skincare products I am using and loving.  I think what I have going on right now is a really great combo for me because even though I’m not getting as much sleep as I’d like (#newbornlife) and I am dealing with postpartum hormones, my skin has stayed pretty steady and I’m liking how it is looking overall.

I’ve been doing something for years that apparently is a real thing: skin cycling.  Essentially you split up the days when you use an exfoliating product and give your skin a day off every couple of days.  I wasn’t doing it intentionally but it certainly has been working, and the bonus of it is that it helps extend the life of your product since you aren’t using it every single day…thus saving you money and further justifying investing in quality skincare. You can read more here and find the right balance for you!  Since I’m breastfeeding, I don’t use a retinol but do use products below with Bakuchiol in them, which is plant-based, safe for pregnancy + breastfeeding (always ask your doctor though!), & produces results similar to retinol.

I also like to use products that are non-toxic whenever possible.  Our skin is our biggest organ and so I am mindful of what I put on it.

Another quick note…one of my personal skincare goals is to be able to be bare-faced (to me that means no foundation) and wear minimal makeup and still feel confident.  The key to that is feeling good about how your skin looks.  So, with that being said, I’m sharing my daily skincare routine for both day + night below!

My Daily Skincare Routine

Morning

1. Gentle cleanse with Micellar Water + cotton pad (or, if I’ve worked out in the morning I will cleanse with this foaming cleanser):  Micellar water is great for sensitive skin because it helps get out all impurities and makeup without disrupting your skin’s moisture barrier.  If I’m not showering I like to use this because it’s easier for me to apply to a cotton pad rather than wash my face at the sink.
2. Vitamin C Toner: I only use this every 2-3 days depending on when I’ve worked out.  I personally really like using it in combination with the Vitamin C serum but don’t use it daily like I do the serum since it is more of an exfoliator.  Helps clear out your pores (thus preventing breakouts) and shrink them, as well as brightening the skin.  This bottle is also HUGE and I feel like is going to last me at least a year if not longer!
3. Vitamin C serum: My second runner up to the Overnight Peel as my favorite product.  It also did wonders for brightening my skin and evening out the tone of my skin.  It also proactively helps protect against damage from environmental stressors so it’s important to put this on each morning!
4. Moisturizer:  I use this day and night.  I think it works just fine under makeup and I love the plump it gives my skin…legit makes me look a little younger and I am much appreciative of THAT!  1-2 pumps is all I need.  This product has Bakuchiol in it.
5. Eye cream:  I like to use this kind in the morning because of the added benefit of the caffeine to help de-puff And since I’m up twice a night nursing right now, I need all the help I can get!
6. SPF + Tinted Moisturizer: I have been using this for over a year now and I LOVE IT.  And one bottle lasted me legitimately almost an entire year.  I wear most days and a little goes a long way in my opinion. Love that it has hyaluronic acid as well as SPF.  It gives a super light coverage that is the perfect amount to blur any imperfections without at all feeling like actual foundation.  My skin still feels like it can breathe and I know it’s getting skincare while I wear it from the hyaluronic acid, which helps boost moisture-retention and give a more youthful appearance.  Yes plz.

Night

1. Cleanser: I use this whenever I shower, which these days is usually at night.  It’s also great for sensitive skin but clears pores and gets off makeup.  I’ve used it for years and don’t see myself ever turning back.  I don’t need more than a squeeze the size of a blueberry to cleanse my entire face, so a little goes a long way.
2. Overnight Resurfacing Peel:  HIGHLY recommend this product.  I mean, I love all the products in this post but this one was my OG fave and the one that changed my skin for the better.  It gave me hope that there are actually skincare products out there that WORK.  If your skin feels dull & lifeless, this will bring it back to life.  I usually use this every other night or every 3 nights if I have used the toner on day 2.
3. Moisturizer:  Same one as in the morning.
4. Eye Cream: I use this one at night.  I know having 2 eye creams seems excessive…if I had to pick one I would pick this one.  A lot of the ingredients are actually the same including the one that helps with fine lines & wrinkles.  This product has Bakuchiol in it as well.
5. Hydrating Lip Mask:  I can’t go to sleep without putting this on!  I’ve tried LOTS of lip masks and other products that are supposed to hydrate the lips, and nothing comes close to this product.  It actually is still on my lips in the morning when I wake up!  But somehow doesn’t feel sticky.  I love it and will be very sad if it ever gets discontinued…which reminds me to order some more right now.

My morning skincare lineup has come a long way…as in, it used to be basically nonexistent, lol.  Hey, sometimes it’s hard to even know where to start!  That’s why I want to share mine with you, because not only do all of the products work so well, but also because it’s a great foundation for a skincare routine for practically any skin type!  Also, all of the products are nontoxic, clean, & safe…which is super important to me because I try to minimize exposure to toxic products whenever possible!  It’s 100% worth the extra cost to know I’m putting safe ingredients on my body.  Our skin is our largest organ so it’s vital we don’t overlook the things we put on our body just like with what we put in our body!

My Morning Skincare Lineup

1. I start with the Countermatch Refresh Foaming Cleanser.  I use this morning & night.  It’s super gentle, doesn’t leave your skin dry, tight, or oily, but it removes all impurities & makeup.

It’s been a minute (aka a couple years) since I’ve written an updated skincare routine with all the products I use.  While some of the products have stayed the same, I’ve continued to make the switch to primarily Beautycounter products because I love the peace of mind knowing that all of their products are safe and nontoxic – I used them all during pregnancy (always talk to your doctor regardless) – and because while they are safe and gentle, they work.  So here’s my skincare lineup plus my morning & nighttime routines with those products!  Also sharing some of my makeup picks.

The Products

Here are the products I use every single day:

• Counter+ All Bright Vitamin C Serum:  If you don’t have a vitamin C serum in your life, you need to have one.  They are skin game changers.  That being said, not all vitamin C serums are created equal.  This one has a unique blend of two ultra-stable forms of vitamin C delivers a supercharged 10% potency…and y’all, the first time I put it on I was *shocked*.  The results after just one use were insane.  My skin was brighter and looked so even and glowy.  After that use, however, I noticed that continued use helps at much more a modest rate as compared to the first drastic change I experienced.  Either way, y’all know it’s my goal to have clear and nice enough skin where I don’t have to wear foundation, and this product is 100% necessary to that Highly recommend.
• Counter+ Overnight Resurfacing Peel:  Another holy grail product.  Completely changed my skin.  I can notice such a huge difference in my skin if I go more than 2 days without using this.  Again crucial for my no-foundation preferred lifestyle.  It’s a chemical exfoliant, so it basically melts all the crap off your face and out of your pores.  It helps even complexion, fight breakouts, combat fine lines & wrinkles, and makes your skin’s texture so smooth.
• Countermatch Refresh Foaming Cleanser:  My daily cleanser.  Like all Beautycounter products, a little goes a long way.  It’s super gentle but gets off all your makeup – including mascara.  Won’t leave your skin tight, dry, or oily.
• Countermatch Adaptive Moisture Lotion: My daily moisturizer.  It’s designed to match your skin’s exact level of moisture that it needs, so it won’t leave you dry or oily.  It’s like a light veil of a moisturizer so you won’t feel like you have something heavy on.  I really like it and have tried others in the past and keep coming back to this one.
• Countermatch Adaptive Body Moisturizer:  I loved it so much for my face that I had to get the body version too.  I do really love this lotion, the only down side is the small-ish bottle.  I’m used to getting huge bottles of body lotion and I felt like I went through this pretty quickly.  It’s a 10/10 product though, just wish there was more in it.  If you’ve ever used the Necessaire Body Lotion, this is super similar to that.
• The Clean Deo:  I have tried several other clean deodorants in the past that just did not get the job done.  I mean I workout and sweat a lot.  I chase a toddler around all day.  This deodorant actually works.  I use the Clean Rose scent and it smells soooo good.  The packaging is sustainable and recyclable, and when you run out, simply buy a refill (refills are less $) and pop it in your existing container.  Helps minimize plastic waste!
• Countertime Ultra Renewal Eye Cream:  Okay if you’re in your 30s and you’re not using an eye cream, get on it. LOL.  But really, start as early as you can!  This is my favorite eye cream I’ve ever tried.  Such a tiny bit goes a long way so the little jar lasts foreverrrr. Definitely helps with the under eye area being brighter and tighter.

Morning Routine

In the morning I cleanse my face with the refresh foaming cleanser, then apply the Vitamin C serum.  I let the serum sit for about 5 minutes or so, then I apply the countermatch adaptive moisture lotion over top of it.  Do not rinse off the vitamin C serum.  Then I proceed with any makeup I may put on for the day.  Easy, right?

Nighttime Routine

The nighttime routine is also pretty straightforward.  I will cleanse my face with the refresh foaming cleanser, then apply the overnight resurfacing peel.  Sometimes I only do the peel every other night.  If you’re just starting out using it, you probably want to do an every-other-night set up to start.  Similar to the vitamin C, let the peel sit for about 5 minutes and then apply your moisturizer.  Again this for me is the countermatch adaptive moisture lotion.  Don’t rinse off the peel, just apply your moisturizer on top of it. At night I will also apply the eye cream.  And that’s it.  Another easy one!  I am low maintenance y’all…but that doesn’t mean I am willing to sacrifice taking care of my skin.  These products work so well and they’re easy for me to integrate into my routine.

Makeup

• Sheer Genius Conditioning Lipstick: my all time fave!! I have worn shade “Terra” for over 4-5 years, and it’s the best.  Great for everyday or special occasions.  It’s a really soft and moisturizing lipstick too, won’t dry out your lips.  10/10!!
• Skin Twin Creamy Concealer:  While I don’t love wearing foundation, your girl *loves* concealer.  Lol.  They have lots of new shade options now, and I initially bought Fair 2 but its a little too light for me, so I’m going to send it back and try Light 1 instead.  I really like the application and the feel though, so once I nail down the color I know I’ll be happy!

Honestly, a lot of the makeup is great.  I also use the blush and several different eyeshadow palettes.  I opt for other brands for eyebrow products, eyeliner, & bronzer.  For now I hear a LOT of great things about the Skin Twin Featherweight Foundation, so if you’re in the market definitely check that out.  Also, Beautycounter has an amazing return policy…if you aren’t satisfied with a product for any reason, simply return the unused portion within 60 days from the ship date for a refund.

I’ve hopped back on the long hair train and I don’t see myself getting off anytime soon!  Short hair is fun, but I just feel more like “me” with longer hair.  I’ve noticed some things like using this shampoo & conditioner and taking daily vitamins & collagen definitely helps, but I wanted to share 5 additional tips for growing out your hair & keeping it healthy that you can easily incorporate into your day.

5 Tips

1. Let Your Hair Air Dry.  Avoiding adding heat to your hair as much as possible helps so much!  I know it’s not always practical if you have to get somewhere fast, but any day that you can take the opportunity to let your hair air dry will definitely benefit those strands!
2. Don’t Do Messy Buns.  I know, I said it.  And y’all know I used to love a messy bun, but the truth is it’s also not great for your hair to be all bent, creased, and twisted tightly into a top knot.  It can be really hard on the ends of your hair and make it super hard to brush out the tangly mess it creates.  Instead, try clips!  I got these from Amazon, they are 2 for $5.  You’ll be gentle on your hair AND on trend!
3. Use a Scrunchie.  Speaking of being hard on your hair, generally those tight elastics fall under that category!  Especially if you sleep with your hair up (I do this on nights when my hair is dirty) this is a much gentler option for your hair.  I, of course, LOVE these silk scrunchies in taupe and black.  The material is great for overnight use but are also so cute with daily outfits.  They’re also on sale right now!
4. Pick the Right Pillowcase.  I just mentioned how the silk scrunchies are really helpful to your hair, but don’t forget about your pillowcase!  A silk or satin pillowcase protects the rest of the strands of your hair while you sleep and is, again, a much more gentle option to prevent breakage and keep your hair healthy.  This one is under $20 and is the same one I use!
5. Brush it Right.  When your hair is wet, be sure to use a wet brush when you are brushing it out.  You can find these all over and you definitely don’t have to spend a ton of money on one.  I got myself one from Urban Outfitters a couple years ago and it made a huge difference.  This one is under $15.  Also, when you’re brushing (regardless of wet or dry), brush gingerly!  Especially on the ends.  Don’t aggressively try to get tangles out.  Doing so will definitely cause damage to your hair!

Collagen – I initially started using this kind because my OB/GYN recommended it after I had Emma and was experiencing postpartum hair loss.  It might have helped the hair a little bit, but that’s primarily controlled by your hormones so there’s not a whole lot you can necessarily do about it.  That being said, I noticed a HUGE difference in my nails when I started taking the collagen regularly.  I just do one scoop a day and put it into my coffee!
3. Olive & June Nail Strengthener – this stuff is legit!  I love that it’s easy to swipe on your nails each day…because it’s not like a polish where it needs time to dry, it just goes on & absorbs quickly.  So if you have brittle nails and need an intensive treatment, using this each day would be a great idea! I also put it on before doing my manicure. Lip Whip in shade “Rosie Gold”:  If you find better lip stuff out there you better share it because I’m not sure it exists.  This stuff is the perfect balance of hydrating, softening, but not sticky.  I wear it every day and I absolutely HAVE to put it on at night before I go to sleep.  Gives the perfect pout.  Realized I am getting dangerously low to the bottom of this one (it lasts longer than you’d think because a little goes a long way) so I just ordered another because I refuse to go even one night without it.

Some are darker, bolder lips and some are lighter with touches of pink…however for fall and winter when wearing pink colors I like for them to have sort of a dusty rose or smokey touch to the color, which I think is what these have!  By the way, the Beautycounter lipstick in Terra is my all time favorite lip.  I wear it year round and it is always in my bag.  It goes with everything and is just such a pretty color.  Both of the Beautycounter lipsticks are both currently 15% off (they rarely ever go on sale) so now is a great time to get those if you like!
